When God Shows Up: My Real-Life Moments of Grace

In one of Fr. Jerry M. Orbos, SVD’s books — Just a Moment — he asks a powerful question: “Was there a moment in your life when you experienced God in a very real and personal way?” My answer is a wholehearted yes — not just once, but many times.   I didn’t grow up religious. I wasn’t taught to rely on God’s grace. As a child, life felt messy, hopeless, and out of control. I wanted to grow up fast so I could fix the things I hated most — especially the way we were living. Back then I didn’t know it, but God was already working behind the scenes.   The first time I truly felt His presence was in 2008, when I passed the bar exam. That year, the passing rate was unexpectedly adjusted — something I saw as God’s perfect timing. Honestly, if that didn’t happen, I don’t know how I would have survived it. It was a turning point that made me believe God sees us, hears our whispered prayers, and knows how much we struggle. From that day, I promised myself to live ri...

A Mistaken Transfer, A Heartfelt Resolution

In life, even the smallest of mistakes can lead to significant challenges—and opportunities. What starts as an error in judgment or action can often evolve into a lesson in trust, perseverance, and the enduring kindness of strangers. My recent experience with a simple banking mistake turned into a heartwarming encounter that renewed my faith in people and highlighted the power of honesty and persistence.

This afternoon, I encountered a situation that tested my faith and trust in humanity. While paying utility bills, my mobile wallet funds fell short, so I transferred ₱2000 from my online banking account to my wallet. Confident the funds were available, I attempted the transaction again, but it still failed due to insufficient funds. To my dismay, I realized I had typed the last digit of the account number incorrectly during the transfer.

Panicked, I immediately reported the error to my bank’s customer service. They assured me they would file a report but could not guarantee a refund. I also contacted my mobile wallet provider, but their automated chat agent failed to address my concern. Feeling helpless, I prepared myself for the possibility that my money might be gone forever.

Determined to try every option, I decided to contact the owner of the number I had mistakenly sent the funds to. I introduced myself politely through a text and explained the situation. Understandably, the recipient was suspicious and ended the call abruptly, thinking it might be a scam. My husband and I tried reaching out again, but she started declining our calls.

Despite the discouragement, I didn’t give up. I sent more texts, offering to provide proof of my claim. Since SMS doesn’t support attachments, I searched for her number on Viber, hoping to connect. To my relief, she was registered on the app. I sent her a screenshot of my online banking transaction history as proof.

She replied through her husband, explaining they were initially wary because they had been scammed before. After verifying their account, they confirmed receiving the money and promptly returned it. I expressed my heartfelt gratitude for their honesty and apologized for any inconvenience caused.

This experience was an instant answered prayer. While ₱2000 may not seem significant to some, every peso matters to me. This incident reminded me of the kindness and honesty that still exist in people. It also reaffirmed my faith in God, who continues to amaze me with His goodness and the power of trust and perseverance.

Key Takeaways:

  • Always double-check account details before transferring funds.

  • Persistence and kindness can break through suspicion.

  • Acts of honesty and integrity restore faith in humanity.

  • Trust in God and the power of prayer during challenging moments.

Our Weekend Staycation & Dinner Experience in Tagaytay

After a week of prepping for our kids' quarterly exams ( nothing too hardcore—just enough to keep them ready! ), my husband and I decided it was time for a well-deserved break. So, we packed up and headed to Y&L’s Crib, Tagaytay for a relaxing weekend staycation. Pre-Staycation Errands & Quick Stopovers Before heading to Tagaytay, we had an early morning dental appointment for our annual check-up and cleaning.
